Supporting rescues

One of the two key areas of work for Sighthound Welfare Trust focuses on assisting the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of sighthounds across the UK, Eire and Spain.

Our aim is to “assist with the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused, neglected and stray sighthounds, as determined at the discretion of the trustees”.

Given the current size and resources of the charity the trustees feel that it is most effective for Sighthound Welfare Trust to focus its efforts upon supporting existing organisations aiding sighthounds.  As such the charity does not rescue, rehabilitate or rehome any dogs directly.

Our work, does however, impact positively on the quality of life for sighthounds.  Not only does the charity provide grants to organisations but also helps promote appeals for volunteers, sighthounds needing homes and fundraising events such as dogs shows.  Grant funding is the principal and dominant activity for the charity.

We also provide emergency funding to rescue establishments.  More information can be found on our emergencies page.

Refer the the "Grant Making" page for details of our grant making activities.
