FAQs
Where does the money go? Is lots spent on administration and fundraising?
Sighthound Welfare Trust spends 88% on its sighthound welfare work and the remaining 12% is spent on raising more funds. Luckily, as a small charity we do not have any administration costs and due to the nature of the organisation we do not have any premises or staff costs either. All details realting to the charity's finances can be found in our annual accounts.
Why is money spent on fundraising?
It is important that we raise more funds to ensure that we can continue our work. This requires some sort of investment, for example we have to purchase merchandise to sell and prizes for competitions. Then there are the basic fundraising pots that cost money! Luckily we are able to keep these costs low because of the generosity of supporters, particularly supporting businesses that provide us with special offers, deals and donate many items.
There are lots of charities helping sighthounds, why doesn’t SWT work with them?
Sighthound Welfare Trust works with a number of rescue and rehoming organisations in helping sighthounds, from promoting fundraising events, dogs needing homes and volunteer appeals, not to mention grant funding. SWT also supports the work of Greyhound Action and its regional branches by promoting their events events and campaigns. The charity realises that it will best achieve its aims if it actively works with organisations with similar aims and values.
Do you have dogs for rehoming? Where can I find information on dogs looking for homes?
The charity does not rehome any dogs itself, but does promote sighthounds needing homes on our forums. For further information on rescues rehoming sighthounds view the rescue directory.
