Rescue directory

All over the UK there are sighthounds in rescue centres and pounds that are in need of a home. Some dogs are abandoned and others neglected and sadly it is rarely the dog’s own fault for endineeding a new home.

This directory lists organisations that help to rescue and rehome sighthounds and has been UK Mapcompiled by Sighthound Welfare Trust. The directory is available here on the website to help put potential adopters and rescues in contact; helping to home more hounds.

The organisations have been placed into regions across the UK and Eire (see map). Some of the organisations listed may be general dog or animal rescues and so might not have sighthounds in their care at present. There are also sighthound breed specific rescues will almost always have sighthounds looking for homes.

Remember that rescue organisations are very busy and if applicable always make sure that you call before visiting and check any opening and closing times that a centre may have. Please be patient when contacting with rescues beacuse the majority are run by volunteers in their spare time.

For more infroamtion on adoption procedures, visit the adoption page.

If you are a rescue or rehoming organisation and would like to be listed on these pages please contact us with details.

Please note that this directory of organisations is not exhaustive and there are most likely to be many more organisations helping sighthounds. Whilst SWT makes every attempt to asses the suitability of listing rescues and placing links to websites, it can not be held responsible for any external websites.
